About
I’m Erika Jurney and my husband Craig and I live in amazingly beautiful Northern California with our three boys Henry, Ed, and Charlie and our dog Molly. Before February 2, 2010, this site was called Plain Jane Mom. Before May 2008 I gave my kids the pseudonyms “Mike” “Robbie” and “Chip” and Craig was “Mr. Plain.”
I currently use most of my blogging mojo writing about amazing handmade goodness at my site Try Handmade. It is such a labor of love, and I’d be really pleased if you checked it out.

“What’s with all the bike photos?”
In the summer of 2010 my husband and I (and eventually trained professionals after we almost murdered each other) put an Xtracycle FreeRadical onto my much loved bike. We made a great bike even better, and now I hardly drive at all. And since I find driving to be mind-numbingly boring, this is a good thing.
I ride around on my bike (an 8-speed Bianchi Milano Cafe Racer from something like 2004 with aforementioned FreeRadical kit plus a 2-kid Burley trailer which is usually full of dogs) and photograph what I’ve carried. Why would anyone care? Well, I expect they wouldn’t, but I like documenting it anyway.
Before the FreeRadical, I used a Trek trail-a-bike with the Burley trailer behind that. It worked fine, but the trail-a-bike always seemed to have a lot of drag on it with or without a kid, and the FreeRadical is so much more versatile.

In the early years of this blog I spent a lot of time writing about parenting after infertility. Here’s our story.

This blog is *not* PR Friendly. In fact, I have become downright PR-hostile if you must know the truth. Please don’t contact me to promote anything.
But I love to hear from real people!
If you’re NOT promoting anything, I’d love to hear from you!
