As if she were your own child

Please read today’s wonderful post over at The Naked Ovary. I’ve harped on you all enough about adoption language and now it’s Karen’s turn. She brought her daughter home from China recently and has been writing really great, thoughtful posts about her experience.

But here’s my favorite part, mostly because it made me tear up:

…this morning Maya climbed on my lap and gave me a spontaneous hug. Then she pulled away, looked me dead in the eye, and patted my chest. “Mama,” she said. I smiled and said “yes!” And then my daughter kissed her hand–MUWAH!–and placed her hand on my mouth.

That’s the good stuff :)

    Hi,

I’m a long time lurker at Karen’s Naked Ovary, and after not visiting her site for about a week I couldn’t access it today because it’s now password protected! I’d love to send Karen an e-mail so I can request to have access — I’d so miss not reading about lovely Maya! If you have her e-mail address, would you be kind enough (or feel comfortable enough) to share it with me. I’m also an infertile. Many thanks! Sharon Crowley

    Hi Sharon,

Hmmm, I didn’t know she was going to go password so soon, and unfortunately I don’t have her email address. (And I’m going to edit out your email address in the above comment in a second so that spammers don’t grab it…)

Sorry I can’t be more help!

    Jane
