"Be still my heart" a photo essay of another chapter ending

Chip, 2.5 years old, has been sporting some gorgeous curls. He’s my last baby, and the curls were very dear to me.

But I looked at him on Saturday and decided I was ready to cut them off. They were really getting in his way, and the snarls were spectacular. So on Sunday we went to our favorite “haircut store” and did the deed.

And I tell you, I just couldn’t be happier. He looks so adorable it made me want to break the rule about not showing my kids faces on my blog, but I know you all have great imaginations. So just picture the CUTEST child in the world and that’s what you would see.

Sigh.

Gorgeous. From the back and Absolutely the front too…I’m sure. Period.

Oh he has the most gorgeous hair! I understand your hesitancy.

What gorgeous curls! I would have waited as long as possible for the first haircut too! But you know, no matter what their hair look like, they are all adorable anyway!!

I don’t even need to see his face – the back of his head is adorable! With and without curls.

Wow. That just looks so much better. I clung to my son’s little baby curls forever too. I even felt a little bad about holding out on the haircut so long after I saw how super cute he ended up looking.

I do admire your decision not to show the kids on the blog. Of course, I believe every blogger is free to decide what they’re comfortable with, but I somehow wonder how those kids who’ve been shown on the internet every day of their lives will feel about it when they’re adults. To me it feels a bit exploitive of the kids.

Since I don’t have kids, I can show my garden plants as much as I like. Plants don’t have feelings do they?

But … playing that guitar, I kind of pictured a Kurt Cobain face in front of that hair. ;)

I know how hard it is to cut off your child’s beautiful hair. I did the same thing fairly recently to my son http://jaycee.typepad.com/semantics/2007/04/posing_comes_na.html.

I bet it makes him look older now.

What beautiful blonde hair! Are you keeping his curls?

I just adore that first picture! How sweet. And that hair! Oh, I’d have such a hard time letting that go. But. What has to be done, has to be done.

Cutie. And from what I can see, the hair cut looks great!

hiz hed iz beyootiful. i lurves it.

i think if O ever really manages to grow a full head of hair – he’s currently got a baby skullet going on – i’ll have a hard time chopping it the first time. i will say i’m glad we live in an era where little boys can do the long hair thing. it’ll make looking back at their baby pics when they’re teens and the hair is horribly out of style much more funny. :)
