Dear Mom: please don't murder me

I’m a big believer in letting kids look like what they want to look like. I only pick out their outfits when we’re going someplace fancy, and they get to choose what haircut they want.

So when my older two boys wanted REALLY short hair, of course the 4 year old had to have it too.

They look great! And you won't have to take them for haircuts for at least three months!

I'm a big believer in letting kids look like kids too. Which is why, every day without fail, my four-year-old changes several times a day from "regular" clothes (wrinkled, stained, torn, old) into "costumes" (his favorite being his Spiderman pajamas).

There's enough of adult life where you have to look a certain way. I'm all for letting kids be kids!

(There's also one less thing to argue about…)

Henry hates getting his hair cut. He acts like I'm shaving his skin off — so anything that postpones the next time is OK with me!

Looks nice and cool for summer!

TheTween used to get this cut when he was your boys' age, and I loved it because it made his eyes look awesome. He has since informed me that it is not about me. Boo.

I love this kind of haircut on little boys. In our house we call it the Farm Boy Haircut because all the local farm boys get it at the start of summer and then don't get it cut again until schools starts. I think your kids make adorable Farm Boys.

Aww, what handsome boys. My friend's sons have those cuts, very easy and cool for summer. In our house everyone (including the kids) assumed my husband would not let them have short hair. He was forced to as a child and we kept theirs long. He didn't care though, and I was the one who drew the line at mohawks, they were had to settle for fauxhawks, poor things. My mom complained constantly about the long hair, now complains they don't look like babies anymore, they look too old with short hair :) Can't win with grandma.

Oh, they are SO cute. Now, I want really short hair. If only it didn't take me 4-ever to grow back. Happy short hair!

    cute!

i loved and miss my long haired little boy. it was so hard for me the day he came to me and asked for hair like MR Js (his teacher who just got a buzz cut for some crazy reason). My boy was so proud of his new hair cut and the reactions from everyone and I somehow became elevated to uber cool mom status for a brief shiny moment because I let him get it.

Like your boys, Daniel loves his hair buzzed close and I still miss his long hair.

My DAUGHTER (3) was trying to convince me to let her have her long hair cut like her brother's. Uh, no.

So glad to see you posting again! And a site makeover, oh my! I don't know how you manage to keep changing up the look! I'm looking forward to popping over here for my dose of Plain Jane, I've missed it!

My kid gets a short buzz several times during the summer. My grandmother always freaks out but my husband (who is my son's barber) always shushes her, saying, "Oh, he'll have long hair when he's a teenager."
