Go Read It Today, Saturday, May 3, 2008

We are an army of educated mothers who have finally stood up and said pay attention, this is important work, this is hard, frustrating work and we’re not going to sit around on our hands waiting for permission to do so. We have declared that our voices matter.” Fuck yes. If you are any kind of mom who blogs, just go read this today. And as an aside, I am about one minute away from starting to post pictures of my kids on this site. Heather’s exhilarating post is really helping me with my decision.

“Every time I get together with other bloggers I tell myself, THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER!and thank my stars that I happened into this weird and all-consuming hobby that just happens to hook me up with really incredible women who strangely enough are a lot like me.” I couldn’t have said it better myself.

This mama loves this amazing adoption story. This is part 3 — are you keeping up? It is so very worth it.

I’m all for karma, but report him. That’s an awful story.

I also read Heather's post and agreed 100%. It is wonderful to share the hard work we do as parents with our friends, family and fellow parents. We're often 'hidden' away working hard to bring up responsible, caring children and are tasked with an immense job.

Blogging is a way to open up the world's eyes to the importance of giving more value to parents and recognizing it isn't an easy job. Blogging also helps alleviate the feeling of 'we are not alone' and I often find useful links to important websites just when I need them.

As for using real names and photographs – there are numerous places that pose potential danger to our young – and the 'real world' is so much more dangerous than that of the cyber world. Granted, we need to be careful about how we interact on the Internet too and as our children reach an age of computer literacy so young it is vital they are 'Internet aware' – just as we drive home 'Stranger Danger' and 'The Green Cross Code'. There are dangers everywhere – but we mustn't allow the risks to take away the importance of self-expression and contributing within the community – be that in the 'real world' or 'on-line'.

Sorry to have written so much! I really love your blog and find the links you provide so informative and eye-opening. Best wishes.

Dooce's post is awesome! Thanks for letting me know about it!

As a mommy blogger who posts pictures and videos of her kids, I agree 100%. Heck, I use all of our names on my blog. I created my blog so my family (who lives 4 hrs away) could see my children grow up, and its the best decision I've ever made.
