It is wonderful to share the hard work we do as parents with our friends, family and fellow parents. We're often 'hidden' away working hard to bring up responsible, caring children and are tasked with an immense job. Blogging is a way to open up the world's eyes to the importance of giving more value to parents and recognizing it isn't an easy job. Blogging also helps alleviate the feeling of 'we are not alone' and I often find useful links to important websites just when I need them. As for using real names and photographs - there are numerous places that pose potential danger to our young - and the 'real world' is so much more dangerous than that of the cyber world. Granted, we need to be careful about how we interact on the Internet too and as our children reach an age of computer literacy so young it is vital they are 'Internet aware' - just as we drive home 'Stranger Danger' and 'The Green Cross Code'. There are dangers everywhere - but we mustn't allow the risks to take away the importance of self-expression and contributing within the community - be that in the 'real world' or 'on-line'.
