Product recall-apalooza: Dog treats for salmonella, Shrek headbands for stabbing hazard, Life is Good / RedEnvelope kid sweatshirts for drawstring strangulation, Disney footy PJs for burn hazard, and nearly ONE MILLION pieces of kid jewelry for high lead levels. I’LL SAY IT AGAIN: JUST DON’T BUY KID JEWELRY, OK?

I don’t know nothin’ about birthin’ no puppies, but now Mel does. Harrowing!!

But having grown up as a female, I know that dresses and shopping are those fleeting moments in life. There is so much more that I have to do to raise a daughter.” Beautiful.

I am not into shaving snatch, but I am also not into pubes hanging out of bathing suits.” OMG Suzanne, you are an enigma ;)

I think he‘ll be the most popular 4 year old there!

Call me a bitch, but is having a day where no one blogs the only way to remember the people who were killed at Virginia Tech? I love that people are coming up with creative ways to mark this occasion, but for me at least, sitting on my hands isn’t how I would choose to show my respect. I’m OK with this project as long as folks like me who continue to blog on that day are not thought to be disrespectful. We all need to go through this in our own fashion.

And for anyone who is still putting sponsored/paid posts on their site, here’s some interesting reading. “Google to penalize bloggers selling links?” (And here’s a more cynical but really interesting take on the issue.) Why should you care? If Google follows through and starts dinging sites, your pagerank could drop. Just be sure to educate yourselves so you can make a fully-informed choice. Knowledge is power, and all that…

i gotta say i’m with you on the “day where no one blogs” thing. i mean no disrespect to those who died at VT, but the whole “let’s remember all victims by being silent on that day” still strikes me as prefab and sanctimonious, somehow. and it ignores the fact that that very day may be significant to some bloggers for personal reasons not covered by their blanket “victimization.” April 30th happens to be the second anniversary of the death of my firstborn. fuck all y’all, i’ll be blogging.

I don’t believe I’ll be participating in the no-blogging day, either. I haven’t posted anything about VA Tech, because I truly have no idea what to say. However, not posting anything isn’t going to help me.

Thanks for the link. That means a lot!

No name calling from me, in fact, make room on the bitch couch. The families of the victims are not going to wake up that day and go “Wow, no blogs in the world for a whole day, what a wonderful thing!”. I guarantee they are too wrapped up in their own grief to even notice.

Want to make a difference? Send cards or flowers. Set up a website for people to leave messages and express their condolences. Make a donation to the charity of the familes’ choice.

Just to be clear, I think the day of silence is a perfectly valid way to go. It just isn’t right for me and I want to be sure that others out there don’t feel forced to be silent on that day.

Well, I don’t think it’ll be much of a difference whether I blog on that day or not. But then again, that’s the least I could do *shrugs*

Perhaps we should take that day off blogging to seriously think of what our society is turning into. And whether there’s anything we can do to REALLY avoid such things from happening again in the future.

The blog silence thing irritates me, and I really can’t say why. I dunno, but it does. What would be a better idea is to memorialize the people who lost their lives, kind of like the thing people did for 9/11 last year.
