Holiday Brain-Drain

I can neither bring home the bacon nor fry it up in a pan. I am unable to keep track of:

  • which of the 3 boys classrooms I have contributed to the teacher gift for
  • which of the 3 boys classrooms needs me to bring in a canned good for Friendship Soup day (and possibly that already has happened in which case I missed it)
  • which of the 3 boys classrooms needs me to bring in a canned good for a canned good drive
  • which of the 3 boys classrooms is having a holiday party, and when it is, and what potluck dish I need to bring
  • CHIP’S SECOND BIRTHDAY IS SUNDAY. And OK, he’s not going to care one way or another, but I really have nothing planned. And his brothers will notice. Sigh.

I think I’m just going to write off all this stuff for a while — well the school stuff at least. I can barely keep my head above water as it is! They’re just lucky I remember to pick up the kids every day.

Whenever I run into a Room Parent, I just kind of tilt my head down, keep walking, and say “good morning!” over my shoulder. So much guilt! ;) But how do people do this? How do you handle this?

Oh great, Jessica ;) I was hoping for some tips…

Since I achieved motherhood I’ve grown to despise the memory of that Enjolie bitch in that commercial from long ago. Back then having it all meant working, cooking and having sex. Today it would be nice to occasionally be able to take a nap.

    Nap?

    Remember things?

    Sigh.

Oh hell ladies, I am so hosed, but I guess we’ll all be slack together…

I have to get to the school a half hour before school lets out to get a parking space so I figure I may as well go help out.

I got behind early in the year and now the room mothers *(there are many) don’t even speak to me. I didn’t go to Grandparents Day figuring it was for grandparents and all and my mom told me they were all wondering what was up with me. I guess I get to be the lazy slacker mama this year. At least they don’t expect me to do anything anymore.

I adore my kids’ school, but I am astounded at the amount of time they want the parents to be there. My kids only go in the mornings, and when they are at school, I need to be at work.

This is one reason why “The New Adventures of Old Christine” is one of my favorite shows.
