How I have ruined my children

March 31, 2009

in From PlainJaneMom.com

About every other week I’ll make pancakes for dinner. The kids love it! But there’s one problem. I’m not much of a June Cleaver making pancakes on weekend mornings, so the other day when I offered them pancakes for breakfast, they freaked out.

Pancakes for breakfast??? You should have seen the looks they gave me. You would have thought I offered to make them steak.

I’ve clearly corrupted their brains more than I thought.

How funny! When I was young I was made breakfast for dinner on occasion but I never thought that it was only for dinner.

That’s funny. My dad was the “pancakes for dinner” parent in my house.

We had waffles – usually with ice cream – for dinner on a lot of Fridays. My father went straight from work to his Friday night poker game, so my mother took the opportunity to have what SHE wanted for dinner!

Hilarious. You got me thinking about how we’re conditioned to eat certain foods only at certain times. Interesting.

When I told my son we were going to have pancakes for dinner for Shrove Tuesday he said, “Pancakes for dinner? Are you CRAZY?!!” So clearly you are the Yin to my Yang! : )

I LOVE breakfast for dinner. As long as you make sure to provide them with the knowledge that other families eat pancakes for breakfast before they start going out for sleepovers, you’ve done your due diligence.

I grew up with a father that ate cold pizza and salmon pie for breakfast, pancakes for dinner seems perfectly normal to me.

I LOVE bfast for dinner, but I never cook it for actual bfast. My kids have to wait for my mom to make it for them.

Our favorite dinners are often breakfasts. Who says you can’t eat vegetables in the morning and all those sweet, gooey breakfast goodies for dinner? Whatever works!

Just thinking about this makes me hungry… and it’s bedtime.

Fun blog!

obviously I have not been here in a while…love the new look! My son gets waffles for lunch everyday because of his diet. PB &J on a waffle. He loves it.

My kids love pancakes. For breakfast, for lunch, for dinner, they are happy to have pancakes. In Japan, many people like Japanese pizza with cabbage, leek, flour, pork in it. Some like to have it for lunch or for dinner and others say it is just an afternoon snack. And it depends on family especially Mom. I loved to have Japanese Pizza for dinner when I was small, but my husband didn’t. For him, it is just a snack and doesn’t want to accept it for meal.

Ha!! That is funny. But also kind of sweet. I’m sure they’ll remember their family pancake dinners fondly when they grow up. :)

By the way – love your daily mugshot on the sidebar.

What an awesome story! And come to think of it the only time I make pancakes is for dinner. Breakfast is always a cup of coffee and Balance Bar. Plus, my “baby” is 16 yo so she makes her own breakfast. Sweet! There are some perks to teenage-dom :~)
