Is this wrong or is it just me?

Shhhh, don’t tell her, but our dog Lucy has been suffering through the indognity of having to wear an ID tag with our cat’s name on it. I keep forgetting to order one for her, but today I finally got around to shopping for one.

spike.jpgIs anyone else disturbed that the example for this dog tag has the owner’szip code on it? Is that for when someone finds your dog and decides to mail it to you?

It reminds me of when Mr. Plain and I first moved in together and I had to get a new tag for my cat. Mr. Plain had a love-hate-hate thing with this cat and helpfully suggested I put our Post Office box on the cat’s ID tag.

When I protested that he was being a sick bastard, he disagreed and said that since we had an extra-large box the cat would fit just fine.

That may be true, but the bill for stitches for every employee of an entire Post Office facility would surely have broken the bank.

Just doing the BlogHer rounds here and as one who is married to a cat hater, I’d say your hubby is a keeper! Not for his backside (as you have professed) but because mine would have put the address for the pound. Good thing my guy has a stellar view from behind as well…

It IS silly, but potentially helpful to mapquest your address if someone were to return the missing pet.

Love reading your post. If my dog was lost, someone would certainly FED EX overnight her back- no one would tolerate her!

You have been blogtipped. Hope you will join the fun!

One of our dogs probably wouldn’t be returned, the other I call our Emergency Backup Dog and I’m pretty sure they’d pay us to come get her.

heey we have an emergency back up dog too. He also functions as the guard dog

we have a zipcode on my doggie because we live precariously close to another zipcode that has a street by the same name.

Weird….I always thought the phone number would suffice….but that’s just me.

The image of a cat in one of those large mailboxes is sadly rather amusing to me right now. :)

See, my husband used to love to torment my cat by puttin a sock over her head and watch her try to back out.. so the whole mail box thing???easy as pie..

I get those kind of tags for my animals too! Right now while all of my animals are microchipped none of them are wearing collars so of course they aren’t wearing their tags & licenses.

The cat, I took his off to try and give him a bath. That was a horrible disaster. Plus his new pretty collar needs the tag that goes with the adjustable collars. So the only thing on there is microchip tag.

The puppy, she has outgrown her collar so I need go and get her a new one.

The big dog, I took off his very nice leather collar to give him a bath and the puppy got a hold of it and chewed it up.

A few years ago, my husband played grand theft auto a few times…and they have a “commercial” when you are driving that is a long the lines of: “Don’t know what to get your girlfriend for her birthday? How about kitten in a box? **mrrrow?**”

So now DH and I just look at each other every once in a while and say, “Kitten in a box? Mrrrow?”

BTW–between the comments here and on the recent post on Mom-101, I’m wondering if I’m the only blogger out there with really sweet and friendly cats?

Our cat would not have attacked the postman. He would moon about the house looking hurt and piteous until he calculated our guilt had reached levels consistent with his getting anuy damn thing he wanted out of us.

LOL, hopefully if found they won’t be mail, but these days – who knows.

My 15 lb rabbit, Tycho Bunnae (named by my husband after the 16th century Prussian astronomer Tycho Brahae), has no ID tag at all. There was no point to saying this. I just wanted to talk about my pet and try to fit in.
