It's a baby shower!

When I was pregnant with my second child, so many people told me that having two kids was going to be so much harder than just one. Like I hadn’t just assumed that from the beginning? Even being whacked out on pregnancy hormones I was able to understand that logic, and it took every ounce of my limited self control to refrain from kicking them in the shins. Really, who says that kind of thing to a crazy pregnant lady? But I digress…

Some lovely ladies are having their second kids and there’s a fun shower going on for them: Her Bad Mother, Mrs. Chicky, and Mrs. Chicken.

So what’s my favorite assvice I was given about having 2 kids? Well in addition to the above, I got a lot of strange comments, but instead I think I’m going to give assvice instead!

Live it up! Having more than one kid is so much fun! It can be tricky at first while you get used to the new regime, but it is so great when they’re old enough to play together. Not having to be your child’s preferred playmate all the time is wonderful.

So don’t listen when people say things like “How do you do it?” or “Better you than me!” Having more than one kid is a blast.

Want to join in on the shower fun? Just get the details and then write your post by Sunday.

Oooh, I'm the first! Thanks for this, Erika. One of the many reasons I wanted a second child was so that my girl would have a sibling. I can't imagine my life without my sister (and even my annoying brother).

My kids keeping each other occupied is the only way I have time to blog.

    Well, that and TV.

My husband and I were JUST having the "should we have another one?" conversation today. Once again, no conclusion has been reached. So thanks for the encouragement!

p.s. I tagged you for a meme…I'm a contributor to the NJMB, which is how you got caught. I figure if I can't annoy my fellow mommy bloggers, who can I?

Mine were fighting with light sabers tonight (ages 4 & 2) and I said to my husband, "This is why we had two."

Eden, I thank god every day for having had more than one. They collaborate in the scariest of ways, but they're building a brotherhood that, I hope, will last through adulthood.

We've got four and it's always amusing to watch people's expressions when you tell them, if they have 2 or less kids. My favorite is the reverse of what you talk about – how once you have more than two, it's pretty much the same. Um no – its barely organized chaos – but worth every minute!

we just had a baby shower here under the big top for the coming attraction so i am full of baby advice that i overheard…some of it actually was good.

but seriously, the best piece of advice i can offer from my own personal experience of going form mommy to 1 child to mommy to 2 (or 5) children) is this: after you take the time to safely secure your perfectly, sweet newborn in the car don't forget the 5 year old waiting patiently behind you to climb into her booster seat in the car right next to the newborn baby sister. all these years later she is STILL mad about this one.

Thank you so much for this! Hubby and I have made up our mind to have another when the 1st is closer to 3 but OMG, we are so friggin tired! I don't know where the energy will come from but I can't see our lives with just this one as much as I don't look forward to thinking about him ever feeling left out or jealous (I'm the oldest of 4 with age differences of 2, 10 & 15 years apart- so I know what it's like). Both my husband and I have siblings and we know we want a sibling for our son. I'm also really looking forward to the whole playmate thing too. If I could make it happen sooner for him, I would. (because I'm not gettin any younger either!)
