It's hard to be the youngest of 3 closely-spaced boys

Poor Chip… He’s 3 and his brothers are 5 and 6, and all he really wants is for me to let him do what his brothers do.

He can’t understand why I don’t send him to kindergarten. He gets mad that he doesn’t play T-Ball. He wants to bring home homework. And what do I do? I thwart him at every turn. If I’m not telling him “You can go to kindergarten when you’re 5” I’m saying “Your classroom doesn’t do homework.” In short, I’m just that bitch who is keeping him down.

But hell if he isn’t resourceful.

When we go to T-Ball games, he puts on a baseball cap and tells me it’s his uniform. He packs up artwork from daycare and carries it around for days telling all who will listen about his homework. He is almost resigned to the fact that I won’t send him to kindergarten, but when he asks me “Mommy, where’s my team??” he is completely unsatisfied with my response of “Honey, I’m your team.”

You should see the terrifying look he gives me. I’m considering sending him to boarding school for his teen years.

With 3 boys, man you better hide your glass wares and don't buy anything new. By used furniture, this way if the boys get rowdy you won't be too upset when they brake something.

Speaking as a mom of a 16 year old, I say go for it. Boarding school is a great idea! TRUST me!

Wow, thats actually very cute! My youngest and my oldest have a difference of 6 years, and let me tell ya..that itself is tough to deal with. I know exactly what you’re going through. But that’s just how it is and sooner or later it will blow over and they’ll begin to understand. It’s only a matter of time until they start asking why they have to do the homework and go to school so on and so on. Don’t even me thinking about their upcoming teen years. I’m scared enough of thought as it is!!

All I can say is THEY GROW SO DAMN FAST!!!!!!! I know everyone says that, but believe me it is so true. Enjoy each stage while they're in it (though for me I needed a lot of chardonnay to get me through the toddler years!).

My kids are 14, 12 and 9 now and suddenly college seems like it's just around the corner. NOW I understand why people coddle and baby their youngest children. I'm guilty of it, even though part of me can't wait to be "free" again. (You have to grant me that little selfish daydream, I've been dealing with LICE all week!).
