Just who, exactly, thought this was a good idea?

I subscribe to the RSS feed of the US Consumer Product Safety Commission product safety recalls. (You can too.) I do it, of course, so I am up to date on the latest products that are considered unsafe, but it has the unintended consequence of occasionally being quite hilarious.

For example, Agio International Recalls Outdoor Gas Fire Pits Due to Fire Hazard. Say what? Isn’t that a feature of a fire pit?

But today I came across one in particular that was spectacular.

Holy crap, that even looks like a machine for launching babies. It thoughtfully comes with a handy basket for pre-flight storage of your neatly folded infants. The faulty component is a ‘mis-aligned zipper’ — yikes. That seems like it would be pretty easy to do when you’re sleep-deprived.

The whole damn thing looks like a faulty component. Seriously – it looks like one of those Suicide Machines from Futurama, only for infants.

    Hey Zero Boss,

HA! I love Futurama! Poor Bender…

I keep staring at the thing and now I think it is just a recycled hotel luggage rack. I know “reduce reuse recycle” but this is a step over the line.

Congrats on your b5media deal — sweet!
