Lunchbox dilemma

At the last minute I’ve discovered that Henry needs a “disposable” lunch for his field trip, and that means I can’t send along his metal drink bottle.

So which is better for my 6 year old? A baggie full of water, or a can of coke zero. Hurry up people, I’m packing lunches now and have very limited options!

oh gee, that’s a toughie, as both will bring out the judgement patrol I would say. And then every day he’d keep on asking for it. Crap, we have a field trip too today, but I don’t think disposbale was required. Eh, too late now.

Well, I was kidding about the soda ;) I ended up telling him to look for a water fountain and sending him with cut up oranges. I said “It will be like drinking orange juice!” and it seemed to convince him.

Cut up oranges! Only a mom would do such quick thinking. And by ” a mom” I mean “a more clever mom than me” because I was thinking the baggie of water was the best choice.

Jen, it only worked because I *sold* it with my enthusiastic “orange juice” pitch. Marketing is everything ;)

Shoot, you were out of vodka? Water and oranges it is.

Quick thinking – about the oranges I probably would have sent in the soda. The plus side is that all the other kids would have thought that my child had the coolest mom on the block!

Well? Well? What did you choose? Water? Crudites and string cheese? Oh come on now that’s just nuts. How about Diet Coke and Pop Rocks?

What?!?! I love Coke Zero. I’d go with the Coke Zero. Of course, that is probably why it is good that I have no kids.

I always send a Sigg, too! Even though I don’t typically use juice boxes since they are single serving, I keep a few hidden in our pantry to pull out for those few times that call for a throw away lunch. I figure if you keep your lunchbox green over 90% of the time, don’t stress about those times you must go disposable. As for Coke Zero, I’m proud to say we are a soda free household! (don’t ask about grandma’s though…)

Pepsi One is better than Coke Zero. A growing boy needs his calorie.
