WHY won’t this guy take off his tie?? Seriously, he’s stranded on a hot island, traveling through time, having near-death experiences every day… and he’s concerned about the level of sartorial formality expected of him? Daniel Faraday is one freaky dude.

Oh yeah! Never thought of that. I'm too busy trying to figure out how they manage to get botox and lip injections on the island.

That's an excellent point. Maybe he's keeping it in case he needs a tourniquet?
-
lol. More importantly, why does he still wear his vest?

My 18yo daughter *loves* The Dan and His Tie. Every time he comes up on the screen, she sighs and says, "I need my own geek to love,"

agreed. there's more than meets the eye with that guy.
the tie will probably turn out being instrumental in some damned time
travel issue and save them all. . .

What an excellent criticism. This had never occurred to me before, but now I can't stop thinking about it.

I'm sorry Stimey — it drives me nuts whenever I watch, and I'm sorry to bring you down with me…

I'm still obsessed with the whole everyone stays exactly the same size and never needs a haircut issue. I'll just add the tie to the list.:)

Good point!
Hmm… if he took off his tie he wouldn't look smart anymore, but rather like a smug post-adolescent Mac user.

Ben uses it to strangle Faraday in the next-to-last episode.

The way this guy talks annoys me too. Trell you don't know that! I have seen every episode and don't remember that.

It's all about creating a strong visual image for the character. Where's he been the last few episodes anyways. Now, if he's still wearing the same tie and vest 3 years later, then I'll have a problem. Love the blog by the way!
