Ever heard of Alltop? It’s the brainchild of Guy Kawasaki, Will Mayall, and Kathryn Henkens and is a huge strictly moderated compilation of top sites in, as of today, 213 topics. I can’t imagine the work required to curate this collection, but somehow they manage it.

Just yesterday they launched a redesign because the site had gotten so large, and now it is even easier to find great new-to-you blogs. Just head over to the main home page and drill down to what you need. There’s a ‘Moms‘ category which has a lot of folks you’ll recognize in it, but there’s also some great stuff in TV, Photography, Design, Travel, Food, Sex, Adoption, Blogging, Deals, Oddities, Clay Making, Lifehacks and a whole bunch more.

Still don’t get it? This short video is actually really helpful and is worth a minute and a half of your time. Even if you can’t turn the sound on right now (I see you reading blogs at work!) the visuals are pretty good on their own.

Now I know that there’s been some controversy and hurt feelings over who is included and who is not, and it has even spawned the wonderful alternative AllMediocre, but I just want to clear up a few things.

While I am truly honored to be included in Alltop (in the Infertility and Moms categories and my Try Handmade is in Shopping), I average 1 – 2 hits per week driven over from Alltop for each of my sites. So yes, it is mightily cool and wonderful that I’m included, but the real value is to the readers who use Alltop to find new sites to read. It is not making me a blogging mogul!

So get over there and check out the extraordinary breadth and depth of topics covered and you can thank me later :)

If you were planning on going to BlogHer Reach in Nashville, Greensboro, Atlanta or New Orleans, unfortunately BlogHer has just canceled those. I’m sorry I missed this announcement when it was made last week, but if you’re quick hopefully you can cancel any travel arrangements you made without too many fees.

The remaining Reach tours are going to be in Boston and D.C.

I was up a million times last night (kids, cat, battery beeping on cell phone…) and am completely wiped today. In lieu of anything meaningful, I’m going to ask you all a question I’ve wondered about for a long time.

Why are people up in arms about kids eating yogurt from a tube? We buy an organic brand with normal ingredients and Henry loves it. I *love* the person who invented it because it means Henry can have yogurt in his lunchbox and manage to eat it within the allotted 2 minute lunch period.

If you’re one of the folks who thinks yogurt in a tube is the work of the devil, let me know why because I don’t get it.

Otherwise you can just wish me a happy birthday or give me some tips for staying awake today. Did I mention I gave up caffeine about a month ago? Yeah, I’m going to be real functional today.

First of all, who names their band !!!. I think they’ve just renamed themselves ‘Chk Chk Chk’ which isn’t a whole lot better, but WAY more google-friendly than trying to search on “!!!” Trust me, I tried.

Anyway, bizarro ungooglable name aside, this band rocks.

“Heart of Hearts” has a kind of Jamiroquai flavor (and makes Jay rock out).

“Must be the Moon” is heavier and deeper and has a wonderfully delirious video.

I couldn’t find a video for my favorite song “Bend Over Beethoven” which is a real shame. If you go to their web site they stream their current album on their home page. Check them out – my kind of music.
