It took getting thrown out of the theater to find out…

The other day for some reason I remembered the beat-up apartment I lived in when I lived in LA. At first I couldn’t even remember the city, but after googling ‘towns near Venice, CA’ I remembered it was Mar Vista. (And then I felt really old.)
Then I remembered it was right near the Mar Vista Bowl, so I googled that, switched to Street View, and drove over to my old place. Amazing! 10 years ago I would have just been left with a nagging question about where this place was.
Wow, the place is really fancy looking now. Flowers, a metal gate, new shingles… It looks nothing like when I lived there. The window in the front was mine, and right under that was where this crazy woman would rev her Camaro from 6-6:30 every morning. It was awesome.

Kirsten Dunst in a great remake of a fun Vapors song from the 80s. (A few seconds of moderately NSFW cartoons.)
Update: bummer, the video has been deleted. Now you have to enjoy this live version by the Vapors instead.

What do you think – did Ed enjoy his first ice skating lesson?
Thanks mom for the lessons and for taking such a great picture!

I love my kids, but (a lot of posts I write in my head start like that) I am so glad that they’re all at school for the day.
They have do much energy – which is great – but there’s not enough coffee in the universe to get me through all that screaming wrestling fighting playing in the morning.
Some days. Like today. I’m really glad that they’re the schools problem for a while.
I’m also glad that no one is staring at me in the preschool parking lot as I stand in a light drizzle writing this post.
Hey, I guess I have lots of things to be thankful for today :)
