Stella!

When we got Stella (at work with me today) at the beginning of the summer they told us she was about 9 months old and would get to be about 40 pounds.

Then we took her to our vet about a month later who told us she was 6 months old tops was still growing.

She’s got HUGE paws and lots of extra loose skin to grow into… Something tells me she’s going to be a lot bigger than we thought!

We’re going to need a bigger bed.

Wow, so today was the first day of school and Henry’s first day of soccer. Oh and it was day two of heatpocalypse. Can you tell he was a little warm at the end?

So here’s the thing. I can make a nice loaf of whole wheat sandwich bread. It tastes mild, it is soft, it smells good, but my kids wont eat it. Want to know why? Because it isn’t snowy white in color! Makes me crazy!

So the other day I had an idea – change the color of the bread! Brilliant, right?

Well it did work, and the kids are happily eating whole grain bread, but other complications have come up. For example, I made a sandwich for the man repairing our fence and I had to explain to him why his bread slices were yellow with blue swirls!

(If you want to try this yourself, I just added a sixteenth of a teaspoon of Wilton gel food coloring per loaf – I mixed it into the water. You’ll see from the picture that some colors come out less creepy than others!)

In denial

The sun is trying to make up for hiding out all summer long by baking our brains into a bubbling mass today. Combine that with school starting tomorrow and 2 of my 3 kids being really anxious about it (hint: it’s the two on the right), and well… It’s movie and popcorn day.

Not sure how I can be in denial about what is happening tomorrow since I spent the morning doing things like labeling lunchboxes, but there you have it.

Nice afternoon hanging out with my mom and goofing around in her pool. Very relaxing, but now I need to do laundry, make bread, and so on.
