Post-birthday traumatic stress disorder. Not to be disrespectful or anything, but that needs to be recognized as a real condition.

We’re just all about Legos here at House of Newly 5 Year Old Boy. Although I have to say that the balloons my mom brought over are ALMOST as popular. Well at least they’re not just playing with the boxes the toys came in. I know that is supposed to be the essence of cute, and I do enjoy watching them in a box, but still. I paid good money for the toy, so play with it you little… Hmmm.

Mr. Plain and I kept the celebration to a dull roar by only giving Mike 3 lumps of coal, I mean 3 books for his gifts. He got loot from grandparents and distant relatives, so we figured that we could rest easy. We were right, but I have to also say that the books were a huge hit.

Thanks to Asha’s timely post tipping me off, Mike was the happy recipient of the following AMAZING books.

The Story of the NileA Port Through Time

A Street Through Time

Mike is the kid who fell in love with “Where’s Waldo” at about age one, so these are just the next step. There’s another one of these books due to be published at some point in the future. I was about to pre-order it when I noticed its publication date was 2025! I’ll keep you posted on that one ;)

Love those books. We have them all.

I’m so glad you enjoyed those books! We love them, too, although I think I may be the one that loves them the best. It’s just fascinating to feel like you’re dipping your toes into history like that.
