They did it again! Unbelievable… Our government agencies in "action"

A week or two ago we started getting lots of those irritating recorded-message phone calls, but I was too distracted to wonder why. However, after getting two in the space of 5 minutes, I wondered if the morons had done it again. So I went over to donotcall.gov and entered my phone number. Sure enough, this is the message I got:

Your phone number with the last four digits XXXX is not registered in the National Do Not Call Registry.

To register your phone number, click here https://www.donotcall.gov/register/Reg.aspx and enter your information in the registration form.

Assholes! They dropped me again! I am so tired of this incompetence! But what can I do about it? Nothing. So I re-re-registered our phone number and here’s the proof.

Your phone number with the last four digits XXXX was registered in the National Do Not Call Registry on 6/5/2007. Most telemarketers will be required to stop calling you 31 days from your registration date. Your registration will (or did) expire on 6/6/2012.

Visit www.donotcall.gov to do any of these things:

— to renew your registration before it expires

— to file a complaint

Print this email and keep it for your records.

I’m doing them one better: posting it online for future reference when they screw me over next time. Nope, I’m not bitter, just pissed off at how much of my time has been wasted.

That bites! I hate those telemarketers…they always seem to call us when we’re at the dinner table with the boys or something! We’ve been asking them to remove us from their calling list, and it seems to have worked….so far. We’ll see!

Hope you have better luck with your registration this time!

    ugh!

that would explain why i am suddenly getting calls too. i checked my number and we somehow are not registered either.

Some days I truly think it’s a miracle we haven’t been taken over by a far more organized government.

But I guess “organized government” would be an oxymoron.

Ok, best line to get off of telemarketers lists is to tell them that the number is a line of business. I say it every time “What is this in regards to? This is a line of business.” They will immediately apologize and tell me that they are removing me from the list.

Works much better than the DNC registry.

Ahhhh, the blessed no-call list. When we moved a few years ago, they told us we had just missed being eligible and had to wait until next quarter. What the? And after THREE YEARS, the post office STILL screws up our mail and forwards it to my husband’s parents. Who is in charge, I’d like to ask!

Hmmm. I just to see that I’ve been registered since August of 2005. Seems like it is time for me to start taking names and suing people like a good American should. Okay, so that’s not how it really works.

After reading the FAQs, I’ve determined that the Do Not Call list is a somewhat toothless tiger.

Wow, grammar and spelling abandoned me in that comment. Grr, telemarketers, grr.

Our government have just started a Do Not Call register. I’m not sure if the 30 day waiting period is over yet, but last night I had 4 phone calls that hung up when they got to my answering machine message. I sooooo screen my calls during the weekday evening so didn’t have to deal with whoever was on the other end.

Holy crap! Those assholes dropped me, too. That explains A LOT.

  10. […] Those fucking assholes at the Do Not Call list dropped us. Which does explain the ELEVENTY-BILLION calls we get every day from an assortment of robots. Via Plain Jane Mom, without whom I’d never have thought to check. […]
