They're all losing their tiny minds, so we're staying home to do it together.

All three boys are having incredibly hard times at preschool / daycare this week.

When I got to Mike’s classroom Wednesday he was sitting in his cubby crying.

Chip had hard days where nothing seemed to be right and he just wanted to eat waffles. Everything made him mad. Even his pants.

Robbie got mad at me yesterday morning because I happened to mention that we never go to school naked. Ever.

Add to that the fact that yesterday they had to wear the dreaded raincoats and rainboots, and you have the makings of a long freaking week. They only are in daycare until 12:30 and there wasn’t even any school on Monday! Yet they are all still losing their shit.

They all seem to be recovering from our long post-Christmas trip to Oregon. Long drives, strange hotel, visiting family, and so on. So today I’m keeping them all home from school. We’re going to have a quiet day of playing with Christmas toys, rumbling in the back yard, pancakes for (their!) breakfast, and generally getting back into the swing of things. Wish us luck!

I’ll be leaving work early today to do the same. School vacation sucks.

    Aw. You a good mom.

Wish my mom had been more like you are! Sounds good to me. I mean, the keeping them home part, not the getting mad about not being naked part.

I just wonder what people do with older kids who aren’t “supposed” to miss school?

I am so glad you did that.

Jacob’s teacher cornered me in the pick up line to tell me how much he’d regressed this week (two days of school) you could see how livid she was. I am letting him stay home Monday to recover from our trip and illnesses as well. Now I don’t feel so badly since you did it too. Thank you and I am so happy to hear other kids have the same issue. Whew…

There’s a teacher who gets livid at your reasonable parenting decisions? Wow, that wouldn’t sit right with me. I wish you luck!

Sounds like a perfect day…as “fun” and festive as the holidays can be, all the travel and activities can be pretty darn stressful. Sometimes kids just need to kick back and having nothing to do all day but play!

I’m with Chip. Pant make me mad all the time.

Good luck! Hopefully, everything will be back to normal routine soon.

I’m right there with you. My son is in Kindergarten and is “supposed” to be there. Thank goodness it’s only a half day program and the teacher is so nice. I’m so glad we have the weekend or we would have needed a mental health day.

Oh such a relief to know someone else’s children are losing their minds. Mine have and I’m well on the way.

    Aw you’re an awesome mom.

Our district policy is that we aren’t supposed to take our kids out of school for personal days or anything of that nature. We are in a high performing school district with high standards so we have come to accept it and try to live with it.

On the weekends we let the kids relax. Part of me wishes we could move to a place with a slower pace of life but we aren’t brave enough to do that yet.
