Liesl: too funny! About a hundred times a day I say "When the cat makes that noise he wants to be by himself!" We must be living parallel lives!

K: I had to give up on the jumping from furniture too. The 1 year old drags a step stool around the house just so that where ever he is he will be able to jump! As for the toilet seat, I am still at the point where I just want them to get all the pee in the TOILET. Step one. We'll move on to putting the seat down after my bathrooms stop smelling like the subway!

Jane, I followed a random link from CrazyHip to your site. Welcome to the blogosphere! I am also Mom to three boys, age 7,5 &2. I remember my moment of truth (or acceptance, or mindsnapping or whatever) came one Saturday morning while I was yelling, "No more jumping off the furniture!! From now on, there will be no more jumping off the furniture in this house!!!"

At that point I had a sort of out of body experience, where my disembodied self stepped aside while I was yelling and said calmly, "Who are you kidding? You have three boys. There will *always* be jumping off the furniture in this house."

I am still holding out in the toilet seat battle, however. How's that going over at your place?

Love your site :)

If I had more then one child, I have a feeling my list would look this extensive. Although we're getting there. I think I repeated, "When the dog runs away, it means you need to leave him alone for a bit." about 22 times today...

Mrs. Fllinger,

The list keeps growing, and I'm sure I'll need to do at least a part II or more. Chip is more commonly known as 'danger-baby' and is getting a few phrases of his very own.

"Stop turning off the water supply to the dishwasher!" is clearly too esoteric and lost on him. And "Just stop it!!!" makes him laugh until he falls down. Sigh...

I've started a list like this in my head. Why would "do NOT eat your sunscreen" not become obvious after the four billionth time?

Love your site. :-)

Kristen,

You wouldn't think it is something that needs to be said, but apparently it is. I learn something new every day!

Ha!! "When he cries, that means you need to stop!" sounds eerily familiar. Sigh.
