We went out on a school night. We've still got it.

Last Monday night, Craig and I did something unusual.

We went out on a weeknight! My wonderful mom stayed with the kids and Craig and I got to see David Byrne in concert in San Francisco at Davies Symphony Hall. It was pretty much like the blown-out image above and so much fun!

You might remember that when I first heard he was touring I kind of went apeshit and immediately bought tickets. Craig was lukewarm on the idea, but I dragged him along anyway. (Who else was going to keep me from running up onto the stage?)

It was an amazing concert, and I got further confirmation that I married well because Craig didn’t mind that I danced the entire time and couldn’t wipe the goofy grin off my face. I defy anyone to not have a good time in the face of such happy music. Hell, he even played my favorite song from “My Life in the Bush of Ghosts” called “Help Me Somebody.” (The youtube video just has the audio accompanied by some artwork from the album cover.) I never expected to hear that song live, so yay me!

The show ended with a marching band and “Burning Down the House” natch, but they had already played “Crosseyed and Painless” which is one of my favorite songs of all songs in the world.

If you like David Byrne or Talking Heads I really recommend you go to this show. Craig liked it so much he was trying to convince me to look into flying to other shows on the tour!

Sounds like a great show. Some friends who lives in SF were there too. (My pal LOVES that marching band.) After the concert they went out for drinks, and then walked home. On the way home they saw David Byrne riding is bike past them. They yelled to him that they loved the show – he stopped and chatted with them for a while. He was on his way to see the marching band play a show at some other club.

This is totally random… but my mother-in-law was David Byrne's French teacher in high school! Anyway, I would have loved to have seen that show… especially the marching band and Burning Down the House. Too cool!
