Why can't children just have hooves?

August 20, 2008 8 Comments

Because that would seriously be so much easier than buying them shoes. Today we had to run and get 2 pairs of soccer cleats before they sell out, plus I need to get everyone some sneakers.

We got the cleats in person, but I’ve been doing the sneakers online. I really really loves me some Zappos and Endless, but even so buying kid shoes makes me want to scream.

First, Henry and Eddie are adamant that they need light-up sneaks. OK, fine, but that limits the selection quickly. Then every brand is sized differently from every other brand, so I end up buying 3 pairs in different sizes and then send the rest back.

The day after I order, the shoes arrive and I have to wrestle the boys into and out of a frillion pairs. Send back the ones that didn’t work, and sometimes even place another order. Some days I think it will go on forever and my children will never have shoes.

However, I have to say — I would rather do anything than take them to a physical shoe store. Yikes, I need a vacation after a trip like that. Whine whine whine, tantrum, complain… Yuck.

My husband’s (he as the oldest of 3 boys, sound familiar?) mother informed me of these shoe issues. My oldest is in 7th grade this year and she said that was the year with all 3 boys that she bought new shoes like every 6 weeks.

I’d like to check into that hoof option now, tyvm. Or I may just start buying them in every progressive size on Ebay right now.

    BOYS!!

My 6-year old daughter, though, has a zillion pairs of shoes because she is already a shoe whore. I’m not sure what’s gonna be worse.

    Oy.

Yeah, but can you imagine the shipping fees on horseshoes?!

I hate taking my kids into any store, for any item! It’s a necessary evil though.

I was literally ready to buy the Boy ANY shoes he wanted today and HE was the one complaining that they were too expensive. I just wanted to be DONE! I will try zappos, forgot about them. Free shipping, WOOT! Thanks, PJM

Ugh. Shoe shopping with kids is the worst. Sean insists that he can only swear sketcher z straps. He feet grow so fast I feel like I am constantly buying shoes.

Oh no way I would order their shoes online. I hate shipping things and I never know everyone’s sizes.

We hit the one sports super store and they all have to find one pair they like from the available selection.

Oh yeah, I’m tough that way. And if they behave, they can get a snack at the register.

Oh yeah, I bribe my kids with snacks.

Oh man, we took ours to the shoe store yesterday. Didn’t buy a single pair, but I needed a stiff drink. I think it’s time to bring back wrapping straw around their feet with leather. Cheaper and easier to deal with. LOL

I know whatcha mean! I'd almost rather go to the dentist than shoe-shopping with the boyz. However, this year, I smartened up and have done it ONE AT A TIME. Eldest got new Nikes from Marshalls, and Middle got Red Sox velcro Reeboks from Olympia Sports, where they were having a buy one, get one 1/2 off, so my Hubby CONVENIENTLY got to buy himself a pair.

Baby still gets the decent hand-me-downs and is none the wiser!
