Why my 5 year old is voting for McCain

October 18, 2008

in From PlainJaneMom.com

We thought it would be a good idea for the boys to watch some of the Presidential debate, but now I’m not so sure. They walked in right as Obama was saying this:

Parents are going to have to show more responsibility. They’ve got to turn off the TV set, put away the video games, and, finally, start instilling that thirst for knowledge that our students need.

Barack Obama, October 15, 2008.

My 5 year old, Ed, heard this and declared he was going to vote for “the other guy” because “Obama said no screen time forever.”

Harsh.

How cute is that? I guess it’s something that he was paying attention. :)

Cute / Disturbing… it could go either way!

See that is how the dark side draws them in…EEEVIIIILLLLL.

Caity and Adam were perturbed that our Cdn Election winners didn’t get a trophy.

I suspect my kids will be disappointed that the winner of our election won’t get a medal and flowers like at the Olympics!

“Obama said no screen time forever.”

Oh lord, that is too funny.

We had a mock election when I was in 2nd grade and I was the only kid in my class that voted for Jimmy Carter. I was vaguely mortified.

HA! Well, at least he’s tuned in to his own political agenda!

Funny! By the way…I started taking Melatonin about a week ago (per your suggestion awhile back). Love it! I’ve never slept so well in my life. My life as a mom anyway!

At least he’s voting for reason and not solely on party lines! Smart kid. :)

LOL. We got together with some friends tonight who live in Obama’s neighborhood. When our discuss turned past local events to the larger election, one of the kids wanted to hold a march for Obama. I tossed them some posterboard and markers and they made a bunch of really cute Obama signs. They (all boys) wanted to make posters X’ing out McCain and shooting the Republican iconic elephant, but we parents told them negative campaigning was not allowed.

We didn’t have a march. I have to figure out what to do with all the signs. I may bring them to a local Obama campaign office.

Ahh, kids — they see issues so clearly. No grays for them; everything’s either black or white.

Well, I guess your 5 year old wasn’t the demographic Obama was going for.

“Obama said no screen time forever.”

Is he working for McCain? He certainly seems capable of making the same “jump” that are in McCain’s ads. ;)

haha ;-)

My dad used to constantly tell me, “Don’t believe everything you hear on TV” I think that I would have quoted him without even thinking about it. :P

If my kids had heard that, they might cross over, too. Srsly, you don’t come between them and Super Mario. You just don’t.

Erika Jurney October 30, 2008 at 6:26 am

Izzy, I know. What was Obama thinking?? Good thing kids can’t vote.
