Why you all up in my grill, Busdriver Man?

August 8, 2007

in From PlainJaneMom.com

On my way to work yesterday I stopped at a stop light. Because I’m all nice like that. Then I notice a bus pull up next to me.

Right.Next.To.Me.

So close that the parking laser guidance dealy was fa-reaking out and beeping it’s little head off. Problem was, I was stopped and there was nothing I could do. So of course I took pictures.

You know those buses that are so long they have to have the accordion plastic stuff in the middle? Well looky what I could see out my driver’s window:

bad bus driver

Can you believe how close this jackhole came to my car? And I had to floor it when the light turned green because he did too — and the angle he was coming at meant he would otherwise rip off my bumper.

So that was fun.

Note to people who live in real cities like New York or Boston: Yes, this is unusual and blogworthy. Is so.

Maybe this was the same jackhole who crashed into my bumper at the grocery and tore the taillight out of a car that isn’t even mine?

We only use the short buses here…

Seeing a taxi on the street in my town is a total novelty, so I know exactly what you mean when you gave your disclaimer to our Nor’easteners.

I’m a little scared of buses. And I don’t like the word, either. It should be “busses.” But many times have I almost gotten run over by a NYC bus while I was on foot. And people wonder why I don’t drive here.

Bus drivers are so inconsiderate sometimes. And cab drivers, too.

good grief, plain jane. That is close! Bus drivers can be so inconsiderate. Some of think they own the roads!

Did he have one of those “How’s my driving?” stickers on the back with a number you can call??

I would have called and said I had photo evidence of how bad that dude drove.

Is it really that normal in the NorthEast for a bus to pull up that close? Wow!

I had to look at that pic 3 times before I could actually figure out what it was! THEN I read your commentary.

Unbelievable. I’m in CT – that is pretty common in the cities, unfortunately. The thing is, even if he would’ve ripped anything off of YOUR car, he would’ve kept on going.

Glad you got thru that with only a slight heart attack.

I do live in Boston and damn that was close asswipe bus driver!

Of course I’m one of those drivers here in Boston that makes up her own lane when there is traffic. I know bad, but we don’t exactly have lines on most of the roads, so you make them up as you go along.

Bus drivers here are a-holes. Sorry you had to experience it first hand. When I see a city bus, I get the hell out of the way. Clearly courteous and safe driving are missing from their training.

If an MBTA driver ever pulled up that close to me, I would jump out my passenger door, climb on board the bus and forcibly take control of his steering wheel.

Unbelievable.

I think you should send this pic to the transit authority, along with the street, date and time. That’s ridiculous.

And I’ve had the exact same thing happen to me, but alas, no camera!! GREAT pic! It made me claustrophobic just looking at it!

The only kind of bus in the sticks were I live is a school bus… although their driver’s skills call for extreme caution too. What scares me though is LOG TRUCKS! I cannot stand to be beside of behind a log truck. I will have intense visualized anxiety attacks of logs breaking through the windowshield and piercing me in the heart. Moving to a small town in which a paper mill is the largest employer was not real smart for me.

Oh heck ya, thats precisily why I have a phone with a camera! I like to take pictures license plates of people who tail gate me, and run me off the road, then I like to call my close friend at the DMV and have them send a nice warning!

That’s like something out of a very strange nightmare. If a serial killer hopped in the passenger side all you’d need is Jennifer Love Boobs to make a summer movie.

Holy Craptastic! I’m in Boston and THAT’S CLOSE no matter where you’re located! I have a kamakazi bus driver that I encounter 4 out of 5 days on my commute to work. I really don’t blame the driver, I blame the idiot that planned the route.

They have a pick up on the right side of the road and about 50 feet down they have to make a left. And they are the double accoridan types too.

Great Camera Work!!
